The Black President Show

The Black President Show (BPS) on Koori Radio 93.7FM spans 30 plus years of service.

Leo Tanoi and Miguel D’souza were the originals BP’s for the first 2-3 years!
Following this period we had so many DJ’s and broadcasters on the show and it was an opportunity for our gifted DJ friends to play the dopest music weekly.
The music staples are 90’s Hip Hop and Rnb classics, with interventions of Reggae, Soul, Funk, Disco, Drum n Bass, Soulful House, Electronic Soul, Neo Soul, World Music, mixed blends and remixes.

On The BP Show, we like to talk about music and chit chat about the music scene here in Sydney and world wide.

Also: Historical facts of the Sydney Music scene including DJ’s, promoters, events and local music artists and releases around the world of the underground sound! We pride ourselves in playing music you should hear. For example, part of 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s Black American lexicon and other First Nations music including our very own First Nations Music, which we will increase on our shows with a great supply, ready to go!

Lalau Leo Tanoi

a.k.a DJ Black President (DJ BP) a.k.a DJ The reverend Soul Survivor a.k.a DJ Constable Care is a prominent Sydney-based Pasifika curator, arts programmer, DJ, radio broadcaster, performer, cultural worker and community leader. He was born in Mangere and grew up in Auckland before migrating to Sydney in 1988.

Leo founded Eyeland Style Productions in 1990, a small production and events management business dedicated to bringing artists, Pasifika communities and businesses together. Since then, Eyeland Style Productions has produced and delivered programs, events, activations and community consultation for numerous organisations including Big Day Out, City of Liverpool, City of Parramatta Lanes Festival, Dreaming Festival, PCYC, National Rugby League, Rugby Australia, Sydney Festival and Sydney Fringe Festival among others.

From the early 90’s, Leo worked as a regular weekly radio broadcaster with Koori Radio 93.7FM with his shows Samoan Dreaming and the DJ Black President Show (for which he was awarded the Koori Radio Broadcaster of the Year Award in 2012), and with 2SER 107.3FM Sydney Hip Hop Pioneer show Mothership Connection.

DJ Robbase

DJ and avid music collector for over 30yrs. This man knows how to rock the party. Specialising in Hip Hop, RNB, Soul, Disco and Funk.

In the early to late 90’s years, you would have heard Robbase bringing his musical talents to venues such as Freezer nightclub, Kinsella’s, Mars, Soho, Pavilion Tavern and the Bentley Bar to name a few.

Currently, Robbase has played Café Lounge, Mumbo Jumbos Terrigal, Hotel Clare, Hotel Gosford , Shellbourne Hotel and HSBC 7’s in Sydney.
